Components of an RIA (Equipped Fire Hose Reel) fire fighting system
Hose reels are available in different diameters and lengths, depending on
- A water supply shut-off valve
- An axially fed hose reel
Each standpipe must be installed and maintained according to the regulations applicable to the building (e.g., building and housing code) and in accordance with the French installation standard (NF S 61-759 COMPIL).
How is a hose reel supplied with water?
are supplied with water by the city network or by a specific water source.
The water supply sources, regardless of their nature, must be capable of simultaneously supplying two hose reels for 20 minutes according to reference texts. Their minimum flow rate is specified by standard or by rule .
- an inlet connection;
- a vertical pipe (rising or descending);
- fire hose connections (single or double);
- as well as all accessories enabling use by emergency services and for maintenance
Wet standpipes (also known as wet risers)
A wet standpipe is one that is permanently kept full of pressurized water. In the event of a fire in the building, fire and rescue services can directly connect their fire hoses at various points in the building without having to supply water to the standpipe.
It mainly consists of:
- a water supply (municipal water; tanks...);
- a supply system (boosters; pumps...);
- a vertical pipe (rising or descending);
- fire hose connections (single or double);
- as well as all accessories enabling use by emergency services and for maintenance
